Arboreality - Scotland's Trees in Focus
Arboreality is the result of three years work throughout seasons, across Scotland, especially in my home of the Highlands. I have always been fascinated by a tree's place in the landscape and how history, agriculture and ecology have shaped them. Why is a lone tree alone? Will a sapling replace it or will rewilding surround it with forest one day?
A traditional portrait aims to capture a person's character and setting. These portraits highlight how trees have been shaped by time, seasons and their environment. As we focus on the vital role trees and woodlands play in both human wellbeing and the fight against climate change, it is more important than ever to celebrate trees and our connection to them.
